NBA Free Agency Predictions 2023

Image
Written By: Dylan Grodner, of Swish Tribune One of the most exciting times of the year, free agency. There are so many free agents and the NBA rosters may look a lot different heading into next season. On this list of free agents include players like James Harden, Kyrie Irving, Khris Middleton, Fred VanVleet, Draymond Green, and many more.  Due to the NBA's new Collective Bargaining Agreement, this free agency is definitely going to be interesting. This is because no team is allowed to spend more than 10% over the salary cap, regardless of how much revenue the league makes. This will affect free agency because teams may be trading away stars in order to sign other players to make the salary cap work. This Agreement starts July 1st, and last until 2029-2030. Now, let's get free agency predictions.  Just a heads up before we start, only five teams are under the salary cap. These five teams are the Houston Rockets, Indiana Pacers, San Antonio Spurs, Detroit Pistons, and Orlando

Will Damian Lillard Be A Trailblazer next season?

Written By: Dylan Grodner, of Swish Tribune  The hottest topic of this off-season is the potential that Damian Lillard will be traded. Dame-Dolla is one of the most loyal players in the league, playing for the Blazers for 11 years. Unfortunately, Damian Lillard has never made it out of the Western Conference playoffs in the time he's been in the league. As loyal as he is, there comes a time when a player must be traded. In this case, Damian Lillard is that player. Damian Lillard has stated multiple times that he doesn't want to be apart of a rebuild and wants to be in a win-now situation. The Trailblazers certainly have the opportunity to trade for another all-star caliber player to put alongside Damian Lillard.  After drafting Scoot Henderson with the 3rd overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft, the Blazers have an important decision to make. Do they start a rebuild with Scoot or do they make a splash to become a contender?  If the Trailblazers look to contend, the first thing th

Saquon Barkley

Written By: Carmine Tuosto, of Swish Tribune We are just around the corner from the 2023-2024 NFL Season. There are only a few players that haven't signed contracts. Saquon Barkley was a star running back for the New York Giants this year. He ran for 1,312 yards and 10 touchdowns.  During the offseason, Saquon didn't participate in the Mandatory Minicamp. It was known that Saquon Barkley turned down a contract offer worth $12.5 million during the 2022 season. Bob Brookover of NJ Advance Media reported that the Giants increased their offer to $13 million with an additional $1 million in incentives shortly after he declined the first offer. He also declined this offer too.  I obviously think that Saquon is a big part of the team, but losing him for the upcoming seasons won't hurt us as much as expected. He isn’t the only player with a lot of value on this team. Andrew Thomas has the potential to be a top left tackle for years to come. Same with Dexter Lawrence and Leonard Wil

The First Big Move of the Offseason

Written By: Spencer Teman, of Swish Tribune                Although trades are not officially finalized until free agency opens up in the NBA, three-time all-star Bradley Beal has been traded to the Phoenix Suns from the Washington Wizards in an absolute blockbuster and shocking trade across the association.               The full trade sent veteran point guard Chris Paul, Landry Shamet, some second round picks, and other pick swaps to Washington in exchange for Bradley Beal, Isiah Todd, and Jordan Goodwin. The acquisition of Beal by the Wizards completes the latest big 3 for the Phoenix Suns. Chris Paul will likely not wear the Washington uniform this upcoming season as they are looking to deal him elsewhere with their rebuild currently just starting it seems like.                Beal's resume, to me, is a little underwhelming when looking in terms of his contract and the value the Suns give him. He's only made one all-NBA team and three all-star

The Biggest Underachiever

Written By: Spencer Teman, of Swish Tribune               There have been plenty of underperforming teams in the MLB this year, but none of them top the disappointment levels that this team has currently. That team is the St. Louis Cardinals.                The Cardinals are in a very bad spot right now and they just can't seem to figure it out. Currently they sit at 27-42, not only in last place in the NL Central, but last place in the National League as well. It's confusing how a team who won its division last year by a good margin, and only got better in the offseason, fell off this much.                From a personal standpoint, I really like the players that the Cardinals currently have. Veterans that have been around the league for a long time in Nolan Arenado and Paul Goldschmidt leading the way, surrounded by younger players such as Tommy Edman, Lars Nootbar, and more supporting as well.                Somehow, even with all of this talent

The A's Belong in Oakland

Written By: Spencer Teman, of Swish Tribune                For the past 55 years, since 1968, the Athletics have called Oakland home, but now in 2023 their home is in jeopardy because of their owner Mark Fisher not taking the proper measures to stay in Oakland and is trying to relocate his team to Las Vegas.              In recent history, the city of Oakland has seen two of its three major sports teams move away from the city. First, it was the Golden State Warriors moving from Oakland to San Francisco, then the Raiders moving from Oakland to Las Vegas. The only team currently left in Oakland is the Athletics and this may not even be the case in a couple of years.              There a plenty of fan bases throughout America in each of its professional sports that leave it all out on the table for their teams and the A's fanbase is one of them. They showed their passion last night when the fans showed up to the game in a "reverse boycott" to sho

The Denver Nuggets Have Won Their First Championship!

Written By: Dylan Grodner, of Swish Tribune  The Denver Nuggets Have Won Their First NBA Finals! What an achievement for this group of guys.  After earning the one seed to start the postseason, many considered the Nuggets as title contenders, but never were they mentioned as the favorites. Teams like the Lakers and Suns (who they both destroyed in the playoffs) were argued to have more star power and much better odds at winning it all. The Nuggets, however, had something to say about this.  In their first series, the Nuggets played the Timberwolves, winning easily in 5 games. This was no shock to many fans as the Nuggets entered this series as the heavy favorite. However, even after winning this series, the Nuggets moved on to play the Phoenix Suns, where they were a huge underdog.  The Suns were heavy favorites, not only to win this series, but to win the entire playoffs all together. After obtaining Kevin Durant at the trade deadline, the Suns looked unstoppable with a three-headed m
