Madness Mania!

Written By: Spencer Teman, of Swish Tribune                In what might have been the craziest NCAA men's basketball tournament we have ever seen, the final four gets even crazier. Out of twenty million brackets created throughout the world, only 37 of them correctly predicted the teams in this year's Final Four.             This is the first time since the 1970s where no number 1 seeds made the Elite Eight and none will be participating in the final 3 games. To add to the chaos, the highest seed in the Final Four is the Connecticut Huskies coming in at a number 4 seed.             Anything is possible and the tournament has certainly proved that this year, but right now the favorite to take home the trophy is the Huskies from Connecticut. They have absolutely dominated every team in their path leading up to this and do not look to slow down anytime soon.             Along with being the favorite, UConn was the most likely out of the four teams to make it to this

The NBA Playoffs Are On The Cusp

Written By: Spencer Teman, of Swish Tribune                With the majority of the NBA having under 10 games remaining in their regular season, the NBA playoffs are right around the corner and the race for the postseason is just starting.             The Western Conference is as tight as can be. The four seed and eleven seed are separated by a 3-game margin, meaning every game matters. This tight race will come down to the final day of the regular season to determine where these teams will rank for the playoffs.             The Eastern Conference is not as tight, but there is still plenty of drama on the East Coast. The most important race right now in the East is for the number one seed. Currently, the Bucks have a nice lead in first place, but they have the Celtics and 76ers are knocking on the door for the first seed.              I believe the Bucks will come away with it as long as they continue their winning ways. The 8-10 seeds in the East are also very tight a

Written By: Spencer Teman, of Swish Tribune                              The World Baseball Classic has come to an end and Japan has come out on top for the 3rd time in the history of the tournament. The classic was everything and more that I expected it would be and I cannot wait until 2026 when the next one takes place.               With all of the teams that competed in the tournament,  Japan looked like they were going to be unstoppable coming out of the gate. They were the only team that went undefeated during the two week span of the tournament.               The US, Dominican Republic, and Japan were all the clear favorites. The fact that the Dominican Republic couldn't even make it out of the first round was shocking to me with the star power that they had.                There were also a couple of sleeper teams which surprised many fans and viewers. Mexico and Cuba made it all the way to the final rounds of the tournament. Lots of major league players par

The Fall of Ja?

Written By: Spencer Teman, of Swish Tribune                              As of late, superstar Ja Morant has dug himself a deep hole with his recent actions and decisions. Recently, the star point guard was suspended by the Memphis Grizzlies for at least two games because of his actions off the court.               On Saturday, March 4th, Morant flashed a gun on his Instagram live story to show to his viewers. The Grizzlies along with the NBA did not take this lightly and gave Morant a two-game suspension.               He was out partying at a nightclub presumably in Memphis where he flashed his gun. The entanglement Morant got into was certainly an ugly one, and the NBA has dealt with the situation accordingly.               Ja Morant comes from a good family where he grew up with both of his parents, multiple siblings, and was fortunate enough to live a middle-class life. There are many players within the NBA that did not have good childhoods struggled at a young age,

Written By: Max Turtz of Swish Tribune This past week has included two ATP 500 and one ATP 250 tournaments. The first ATP 500 tournament to concluded was in Dubai, UAE. Daniil Medvedev continued his two-tournament win-streak and captured his 18th career title. Not only does Medvedev have a 14-match active win streak, but he also ended Novak Djokovic's 20-match win streak in the Dubai semifinal.  In the Western Hemisphere, Nicolás Jarry captured his home country's ATP 250 in Chile. Making this only his second career single's title. He defeated fellow South Americans, Diego Schwartzman in the round of 16, and Tomás Etcheverry in the final.  The other ATP 500 was in Acapulco, Mexico. It featured top players including Casper Ruud, Holger Rune, Matteo Berrettini, Alex de Minaur Denis Shapovalov. Even top ranked Americans Taylor Fritz, Frances Tiafoe, and Tommy Paul participated. In the quarterfinals, Holger Rune crushed Matteo Berrettini,  Taylor Fritz knocked out Tiafoe, Alex

Written By: Spencer Teman of Swish Tribune                The MLB season is right around the corner! With some new rule changes and other adjustments to the game, it should be a relatively new look when watching an MLB game this season.               From the pitch clock to bigger bases, Spring Training is already showing how different MLB games will be this season compared to previous seasons. The pitch clock has made games much faster, making it more enjoyable for baseball fans, making most games well under 3 hours.               The main argument of a basic sports fan when discussing baseball is that the games are too long and boring. Now with the pitch clock, everything is being sped up and becoming more interesting to watch for a non-baseball fan. In my opinion, not only is it speeding up the games, but it is attracting more fans to the game.               Aside from the rule changes, this season will see a ton of stars in different locations: Trea Turner in Phill

Written By: Avary Bourbin of Swish Tribune As we all know, March Madness is coming around the corner. Everyone will soon be scrambling to pick the perfect bracket for the 2023 NCAA Men’s Tournament. Most people will be choosing many of the household names including Houston, Alabama, and Kansas to make deep runs this March. But in order to create that perfect bracket, you have to pick the right spot for that major upset. These are games that can make or break one's bracket. Even the top seeded teams are destined to make early first-round exits. Although it’s rare for a 16-seeded team to defeat a 1-seeded team, or a 15-seeded team to beat a 2-seeded team, it has still happened many times.    For instance, just last year we saw a team from a small school in New Jersey, St. Peters, with virtually no March Madness experience, stun Kentucky; a blue blood team who has not lost in the first round of March Madness since 2008 and

A Preview to the 2023 MLB Season

Written By: Carmine Tuosto of Swish Tribune Baseball fans, get ready for another exciting season of baseball. The 2023 Major League Baseball season is upon us, and there is a lot to look forward to.  One of the most significant changes to this season is the expanded playoffs. Instead of 10 teams, the postseason will feature 12 teams, giving more teams a shot at the World Series. With more teams in the hunt, the competition will be fierce, and fans can expect plenty of huge moments.  As we begin to watch this year's Spring Training games, baseball fans all over have noticed the new pitch clock. A 15 second clock winds down and forces the pitcher to pitch faster, making at bats less lengthy. This will also decrease the duration of baseball games. Baseball fans may be upset by this, not getting the real baseball feel. Those just starting to watch America's pastime, may get lethargic while watching a game, but the pitch clock will help them stay focused. The 2023 season will also f

Playoff Predictions

Image
Written By: Dylan Grodner of Swish Tribune  If the playoffs started today we would see some thriller matchups, including Cavs V.S. Knicks, Sixers V.S. Nets, Kings V.S. Clippers, Suns V.S. Warriors, and more. The Bucks, Celtics, Nuggets, and Grizzlies matchup would still be determined as they wait for the winners of the play in. Teams competing for the play-in include: The Heat, Hawks, Raptors, Wizards, Bulls, Pacers, Mavericks, Timberwolves, Jazz, Pelicans, Trail Blazers, Lakers, and Thunder.  In Eastern Conference play-in games, I have the Heat playing the Hawks and the Raptors playing the Wizards. I think the Heat are one of those teams that turn it up to a whole other level come playoff time. With this being said, I have the Heat advancing over the Hawks. Between the 9 and 10 seeds, I think the Raptors are simply the better team and will advance into the playoffs.  Shifting gears to the Western Conference play-in games. It is definitely a tight race between the Mavs, Timberwolves

March Has Arrived!

Written by: Spencer Teman, of Swish Tribune                              The best month of the year is finally here! Soon we will be able to compete with our friends by filling brackets to predict who will take home the NCAA championship. March is truly just one shining moment.             Not only is the biggest college tournament going on, but MLB spring training is also underway and Opening Day kicks off at the end of the month as well. The NHL and NBA are both coming down to the end of their seasons where teams are still fighting for postseason spots.             Whether you follow college basketball or not, everyone is into the NCAA tournament. There is just a certain vibe surrounding this tournament that makes it better than every other postseason format.             For me, it is the non-stop action that is what makes the tournament so great, especially within the first couple of days of the tournament. Although it is just the start of the tournament, in my opi
