Will Josh Dobbs and the Vikings bounce back after a devastating loss?

Image
Written by Carmine Tuosto of Swish Tribune The former starting quarterback for the Minnesota Vikings during the October 29th win against the Packers at Lambeau Field. He is placed on IR and will miss the rest of the season. Days later they signed quarterback Josh Dobbs who was playing with the Arizona Cardinals at this time. Next week against the Falcons, Dobbs went into the game knowing barely any plays and still put the Vikings on top 31-28. He went 20-30 with 158 yards and 2 Touchdowns. He still played average in his next two games. The game against the Saints 23-34 268 yards and 1 Touchdown, Despite his one interception in a game against the Broncos he threw 20-32 for 221 yards and 1 touchdown they lost that game 21-20.  The Vikings on MNF were looking for a bounce back win against the Bears but it didn't go as planned as Josh Dobbs had a horrible performance with 22-32 attempts, 185 yards, 1 touchdown and 4 Interceptions.   Here's what Head Coach, Kevin O’Connell had to

What's Next for FSU?

Image
What's Next for FSU? Sage Rubin, Swish Tribune Following Jordan Travis’s devastating injury, Florida State has many questions surrounding the program. The biggest question is what’s next? The first quarter against North Alabama was a disaster for Florida State. Not only were they down 13-0, but their starting QB, Jordan Travis went down with a gruesome leg injury. This led to Tate Rodemaker coming in at QB. Tate then guided the Noles to a win involving 58 unanswered points and he showed off his cannon of an arm. As a result of losing their Superstar QB, Florida State has entered a debate about even if they are undefeated they’ll be left out for a one-loss team. The only way that this comes to fruition would be if Florida State lost because if they’re undefeated, they’ve still done everything that’s been asked of them. Expect the offense to look a lot different under Rodemaker. Rodemaker can throw the ball really well because of his NFL-caliber arm which makes the Noles even more o

My Heisman Favorites

Image
Written By: Spencer Teman, of Swish Tribune As we approach the end of the college football season and inch closer to bowl season, that means its time to address who is going to win the most prestigious award, the Heisman Trophy. My top three candidates as of now are Jayden Daniels, Michael Penix, and Bo Nix. In a race, where just a couple of months ago I thought would be dominated by Caleb Williams, has totally turned upside down.  1.  Jayden Daniels It's hard to argue against the LSU quarterback who just put up over 600 total scrimmage yards by himself against the Florida Gators. Those stats are unheard of and it makes it even more impressive that it was put up against an legitimate and competitive Division I school. Daniels has shown that he is the best dual-threat quarterback in the sport approaching 1,000 rushing yards on the season with over 3,000 passing yards to add onto that. The only flaw to Daniels' case to win the trophy is the loss column for the LSU Tigers sitting

Is CJ Stroud an MVP Candidate?

Image
Written By: Spencer Teman, of Swish Tribune The rookie out of Ohio State, CJ Stroud, has emerged as one of the league's newest premier quarterbacks displaying his immense talents week in and week out. His most recent stellar performance came on the road in a victory over the Bengals and further proved why his name deserves to be in the MVP conversation.  Stroud entered the NFL as the second overall pick in this previous draft to the Houston Texans. The Texans came in with the purpose of getting their quarterback for the future, surrounding him with a very young team with no legitimate thoughts of possibly winning now. The Texans just recently moved on from their previous franchise quarterback, Deshuan Watson, and honestly I don't think they imagined picking another talent as good as him this soon.  Stroud has now turned something that seemed hard to achieve into a feat that he is slowly climbing up just nine games into his rookie season. Stroud is currently the leader by far

Down Fall of Daniel Jones and the New York Giants

Image
Written by Carmine Tuosto of Swish Tribune In 2022 the Giants had a great year with a 9-7 record which were high expectations for them because in 2021 they were 4-13. Daniel Jones had a big leap from 2021 to 2022. From 2428 yards 10 Touchdowns and 7 Interceptions to 3205 yards 15 Touchdowns and 5 Interceptions which was the one of the lowest amongst Quarterbacks and defense went from allowing 24 points to 21. In 2023, almost midway through the season they are 2-8 and arguably the worst team in the league. It all started in the first few games, mostly on the O line. Andrew Thomas and rookie John Micheal Schmitz. The first 4 games the Giants started out 1-3 and went to play the dolphins and Daniel Jones got injured towards the end of the game. Tyrod Taylor took over as the Quarterback but couldn't get the job done. Tyrod Taylor was playing solid and with a close game to the Jets but suffered a rib injury and the undrafted free agent Tommy DeVito from Syracuse took over. He showed t

Texas A&M Coaching Candidates

Image
Texas A&M Coaching Candidates Sage Rubin, Swish Tribune Following the expensive departure of Jimbo Fisher, Texas A&M must get back to the drawing board and reevaluate who they want to lead the football program. Considering they spent 77 million dollars to fire Coach Fisher, the Aggies seem willing to spend large amounts of money on the next coach as well. Below are some candidates that seem to fit the job. BIG NAME CANDIDATES: Mike Elko The Duke Blue Devils HC has led a tremendous turnaround at Duke by taking a program that finished 2-10 in 2021 to a 15-8 record the past two seasons. He is an up-and-coming name but has ties to A&M which puts him as my pick to land the job. Just two years ago Elko was a successful defensive coordinator at A&M. His success at this position in 2021 was what landed him the job at Duke. Elko’s familiarity with this school’s unique traditions and his ability to win match well with the potential candidate the Aggies are looking for. Dan Lannin

Jimbo Fisher is OUT at Texas A&M

Jimbo Fisher is OUT at Texas A&M After a disappointing tenure, Coach Fisher is OUT at A&M. Sage Rubin, Swish Tribune The now former head coach of Texas A&M football, Jimbo Fisher has been fired by Texas A&M this morning according to Billy Liucci of TexAgs.com. Fisher is set to be owed around 76 million dollars due to his enormous buyout that was signed in 2021. Jimbo’s tenure at Texas A&M was anything but rewarding for the Aggies after they pried him away from Florida State at the end of the 2017 football season. Despite being 45-25 at Texas A&M, Fisher never had a season with less than 4 losses with the exception of the 2020 Covid season when the Aggies had only one loss. The 45-25 record was worse than the record of Kevin Sumlin’s tenure at Texas A&M, Jimbo’s predecessor, who had a 51-26 record as head coach of the Aggies. The next question for Texas A&M is who will they hire? We know they have the money and are willing to spend it since they’ve seemin

The In-Season Tournament is Pointless

Image
Written By: Spencer Teman, of Swish Tribune The NBA began its inaugural in-season tournament on November 3rd where all thirty teams compete for the new NBA Cup. The NBA is trying to add more intensity and competitiveness from this brand new tournament but what is the real point of it? At the end of the day, no trophy in the NBA will top the Larry O'Brien Trophy that is given to whatever team wins the NBA Finals. Personally, I am not a fan of this in-season tournament. For starters, a lot of the players aren't well informed about the rules and format of this tournament itself.  Another thing that I do not like is the courts that are being played on. For every single tournament game, each home team designs their home court to a style which has never been seen before, but for fans and some players it is absolutely blinding.  Even for myself as a fan, I do not fully understand the format of which this tournament consists of. Every regular season there is 82 games with lots of heate

Fixing The Playoff Rankings

Image
Fixing the Playoff Rankings Sage Rubin, Swish Tribune  Georgia The Georgia Bulldogs haven’t had the prettiest wins but they’ve shown that they’re capable of being able to floor it and run away from their opponent. With this most recent win over Missouri, the Bulldogs have cemented themselves as the best team in the country with their elite defense and offense that is able to do what it needs to do in order to walk away with a win. This upcoming game against Ole Miss will likely give us the final conclusion needed to determine what the Bulldogs are this season. Ohio State The Buckeyes have not disappointed this season with their thrilling wins over Notre Dame and Penn State. Despite having the strongest resume of the top 4 at this point in time, the Buckeyes have been keeping it close with teams that have a pulse of talent. Unfortunately for us as the fans, the top Big Ten teams often schedule light non-conference opponents so we won’t really know who Ohio State really is until they pla

Caleb Williams Out, Michael Penix Jr. in

Written By: Jack Nevins of Swish Tribune     The Heisman Trophy: the most decorated trophy in all of college football and college sports. The Heisman is given to the most outstanding player throughout the college football season, and this season presents a tight race. As we enter the month of November, this is the time for these players to prove themselves to win the Heisman and put their name in the record books. The Heisman running is down to five, and as we continue to watch these players preform, we question, who will it be?     Caleb Williams, of USC took home the Heisman last season. Williams was a transfer from Oklahoma where he did not see much playing time in his first two seasons, but after a disappointing start from their so called "star" in Spencer Rattler, Williams took the field, and the rest was history. He then followed his former mastermind offensive coordinator, Lincoln Riley, to USC where Riley earned the head coaching job, and Williams would con

The Texas Rangers First Ever World Series

Image
Written by Carmine Tuosto of Swish Tribune Yesterday the Texas Rangers won their first world series ever winning the series 4-1 to the Arizona Diamondbacks. "We're sick of losing," Chris Young said at spring training in Arizona, answering a reporter's question about how and why the Rangers took an aggressive stance to free agency.  The Texas Rangers were 4th in the AL West with a record of 68-94. The past 3 seasons they had arguably one of the best rebuilding seasons getting a lot of depth of all positions In 2022 The Rangers had in place the makings of a solid offense, in large part because of Seager and Semien's success. Texas finished eighth with 198 homers and scored runs at a clip safely above the MLB average  and those two players set examples for the younger Rangers coming through the system which benefited the team a lot  The Rangers needed a lot more pitching because they were a bottom-10 team by ERA+. In response, Young signed righty Jake Odorizzi early
