The Texas Rangers First Ever World Series

Written by Carmine Tuosto of Swish Tribune

Yesterday the Texas Rangers won their first world series ever winning the series 4-1 to the Arizona Diamondbacks.

"We're sick of losing," Chris Young said at spring training in Arizona, answering a reporter's question about how and why the Rangers took an aggressive stance to free agency.

The Texas Rangers were 4th in the AL West with a record of 68-94. The past 3 seasons they had arguably one of the best rebuilding seasons getting a lot of depth of all positions

In 2022 The Rangers had in place the makings of a solid offense, in large part because of Seager and Semien's success. Texas finished eighth with 198 homers and scored runs at a clip safely above the MLB average  and those two players set examples for the younger Rangers coming through the system which benefited the team a lot

The Rangers needed a lot more pitching because they were a bottom-10 team by ERA+. In response, Young signed righty Jake Odorizzi early in the offseason. Then, Young was determined in free agency in the spring, landing Jacob deGrom, Andrew Heaney and Nathan Eovaldi. That with 2022 holdovers like Gray, Martin Perez and Dane Dunning gave the Rangers one of the deepest and most accomplished starting rotations in the majors.

The start of the 2023 season one of their best pitchers Jacob Degrom had forearm tightness and had to undergo Tommy John surgery in June. Despite this inconvenience for the Texas Rangers. The pitchers had to step up and with a little adversity still had one of the ERAs in the league.

Rookie Josh Jung posted 12 homers and 37 RBIs by the end of May and played great in the field on defense, doing his best to be a historical hero, Brooks Robinson. Semien had a great performance and the Rangers went 20-13 during Seager's lengthy absence, with utility player Ezequiel Duran hitting well too during that time

Nathan Evolidi was on fire as the season went on, making him a contender for the Cy Young award toward the All Star break. Then he got hurt by the middle of july. The Rangers went 19 games and led the division by 4 and a half games.

But then they took a bog turn and the starting rotation started to suffer. The Rangers won on deadline day, the first of eight straight victories. They won 12 of 14 to move a season-high 24 games over .500 by August. Things were good, with the new order  by the Rangers.

There were some more ups and downs throughout the season for the Texas Rangers but they are now the 2023 World Series Champions.
