Preseason Preview: Cleveland Browns

Written By: Jake Bornstein, of Swish Tribune

What's Happening on Offense? People are excited about Deshaun Watson this year. Before the controversy circled around him, he was an ELITE quarterback. With Will Fuller and DeAndre Hopkins he was a top qb, but people forgot about him as he took a long break away, however last year when he came back he started to ball out once again! This was with Amari Cooper, Donovan
Peoples Jones and David Njoku. Now they also added Elijah Moore, who people forget was elite in New York to end his rookie year, but last year suffered and wanted to be traded due to low usage and poor QB play. Moore also has appeared to have a role in the running game. With the end of Kareem Hunt’s career in Cleveland Moore could obtain some short passes, but so can Chubb.

In my personal opinion, Nick Chubb is the best pure rusher in the NFL. When you look at the stats he is also the best pure rusher in the NFL, averaging over 6.0 yards per carry yearly along with Lamar Jackson. With Kareem Hunt gone, and if Chubb stays healthy, there is no reason why he won’t dominate this season.

To look at the Defense: A big deal is Jim Schwartz becoming the defensive coordinator. He has lots of experience and has done well before as a head coach and more recently defensive coordinator for the Lions. The Browns defense has had some issues, but with Schwartz involved it could excel this year.

The Browns have a good schedule. They play most of their first games at home, and they get a bye week 5. They start with the Bengals, then play away against Pittsburgh, home with Titans and finish at home with Baltimore. These games will show how good the Browns are compared to their division rivals.

A Player to Watch is offensive lineman, Dawand Jones. He's 6-foot-8 and weighs 374 pounds. He's a new player from Ohio State, he should help the line and Chubb.

Overall Prediction: 10-7 (over/under is 9.5 book it!)
