After a strong fourth exhibition game against Greece, USAB looks to round out their final contest with a win against Germany this Sunday. This will be the final warmup until the group games against New Zealand, Jordan, and Greece at the end of August. On top of the US making quick work of the Giannis-less Greek team, Greece is expected to be the strongest in-group competition for America.
USAB is looking to clear up any doubts or concerns still lingering from their seventh-place finish at the 2019 World Cup. With a strong start and talented roster, hopes are high for the team. However, Coach Steve Kerr pointed out some areas of improvement heading into the weekend: “The concern is turnovers and rebounds. If we stay even on the possession game, I feel great about our chances against anybody. The way teams can beat us is if they get extra possessions and force a lot of turnovers and we’re not sharp and we’re not boxing out.” This comment comes after a 20 turnover performance in the final 31 minutes of gametime against Greece.
Looking ahead, I expect big things from some of the NBA’s best. Let’s go USA Basketball!
