Ime Udoka's impact on the Celtics success
In my opinion, this is a huge blow to the Celtics and what they can possibly do this season. For a long period of time in the 2010s to the early 2020s, the Celtics were trying to get over the hump and reach the NBA Finals and potentially win the finals, Udoka got them over that hump in the 2021-2022 season.
A fresh new mindset and system was exactly what the Celtics needed to push them over the hump and get them out of the Eastern Conference in the playoffs. The Celtics knew it was time to move on from Brad Stevens after multiple seasons of coming up short in the playoffs.
Nowadays and throughout the entire history of the NBA, great teams have been lead by great coaches and when you lose that coach, the entire team goes down with it. My prediction is that the Celtics will be good again this year, but nowhere near as good as they were a year ago.
The Celtics were great last year and were poised for an even better year this season with many new additions and returns of key players on the roster. They kept basically the same exact roster as last season and brought in new key pieces such as Malcolm Brogdon and Danillo Gallinari. The team was already deep and full of veteran experience, but these two add more experience and versatility to this team as well.
It looked like the Celtics were going to power themselves through the East once again, but they've hit a huge roadblock here and it's going to be a large hole to dig themselves out of if they want to be where they were last season.
