Super Bowl LVII

Super Bowl LVII

As the final weekend of football approaches, Arizona is hosting the Super Bowl between The Philadelphia Eagles and The Kansas City Chiefs.

Both of these teams have been fantastic all season long and have managed to secure the #1 seed in each of their respective conferences. With that being said, Philly is still the favorite, but it is definitely a tight race. Jalen Hurts is coming off of a poor performance against the best defense in football, throwing only 15/25 against the 49ers. He is bound to have a bounce back game and will throw the ball more, especially having Jason Kelce and the offensive line protecting him.

The Eagles have a better run game than the Chiefs and a better wide receiver room. By having talented receivers like AJ Brown and Devonta Smith, and great running backs, like Pro Bowler Miles Sanders, they are definitely hard to stop. They also have a better offensive line which gave up only one sack in the NFC Championship game.

I don't think the passing game is gonna look the best for the Chiefs, as their wide receiver room is limited to only Marquez Valdes-Scantling, JuJu Smith-Schuster, and second-year rookie Kadarius Toney. Even though Marquez Valdes-Scantling had a great game against the Bengals, 6 Receptions 116 yards and a touchdown, I don't think he should be a problem for Darius Slay and the secondary.

The Eagles defense is also a force for this team. In the regular season, the Eagles had the most sacks, becoming 3rd in NFL history. In addition to the regular season, they’ve had the most sacks this postseason, with 8 total.

The few issues standing in the Eagle’s way, is the Lack of Super Bowl experience between Jalen Hurts and head coach, Nick Sirianni. They also have to face the best tight end in the league, Travis Kelce, and if he keeps playing the way he's been playing, he could be a nightmare for this Eagle’s defense.

Moving on to the Chiefs, they have also been another fantastic team throughout the course of this season. Patrick Mahomes poses a big problem for any team, but in this case, it’s the Eagles. He's shown why he's the best quarterback in the league, even after suffering a high ankle sprain in the 1st quarter against the Jaguars in the Divisional Round.

A big threat on the Chief’s defense is Chris Jones. Jones reported 15.5 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, and a recovery over 17 games during the 2022 regular season. Jones matched a career-best mark with 15.5 sacks in 2022 and a career-high 44 tackles. He is going to play a big part for the Chiefs to win the Super Bowl.

Lastly, the head coach of the Chiefs, Andy Reid, is a 2 time Super Bowl champion. One as an assistant head coach back in Super Bowl 32, and another when he was a head coach for the Chiefs in Super Bowl 54. He also coached for the Eagles from 1999-2012, but was then fired during the 2012 season for going 3-13. I think he is determined to get revenge on the Eagles and show them his real worth.

The Chiefs are also wearing white jerseys. Although this stat doesn’t make a huge difference, 15 of the last 18 teams in the Super Bowl wearing white won.

Both of these teams have been phenomenal all season long. As long as some aspects of their game don’t get exposed, it is going to be a fun game to watch. Finally, for my prediction; the Chiefs fall short to the Eagles 34-28.
