Football Fans, get ready for the 2023 NFL Draft. In just a few hours, one of the most exciting days in football will take place in Kansas City, the home of the Defending Super Bowl Champions.
The 2023 NFL Draft is expected to be filled with talent, with some of the most promising young players in College football. Bryce Young, Jalen Carter, and Cj Stroud, were all standout College players this past season and are expected to be top picks tonight.
To some, Bryce Young is the best player in the draft. Young brings a lot of strengths to his game, including good rush awareness and pocket mobility, calm demeanor on the field, and shows ability to stay focused in the 4th quarter. However, he is lacking in some areas with his height and weight only being 5 '10, 204 lbs. Since 2003, no quarterback who weighed fewer than 207 pounds at the combine has been drafted in Round 1. Furthermore, he doesn’t run as often as he could to counter the rush and pick up first downs.
My top sleeper pick of the draft is Ohio State wide receiver, Jaxon Smith-Njigba. He is classified by some as the best wide receiver in the draft. He is the best route runner and possesses an ability to find open space which is rare among wide receivers. Smith-Njigba also has great hands and can win jump balls. He missed most of the 2022 season with a hamstring injury, but in 2021 he was the top receiver at Ohio State with 95 catches, 1,595 yards and 9 touchdowns.
The 2023 NFL Draft is shaping up to be an exciting event for football fans all over the world. With so much talent available at every position, teams will have the opportunity to build their rosters for the upcoming season and the future. It will be interesting to see which players emerge as stars in the NFL and which teams come out of the draft with the best haul late-round talent.
