Inter Miami Wins its First Cup

Inter Miami CF ended in a draw with Nashville SC, but after penalties, Inter came out on top winning 10-9 in the shootout.

The deal was sealed for the south beach club, as Miami keeper Drake Callender took Nashville keeper Elliot Panicco on a dagger just above Panicco's head. Panicco's try was no good, as Callender became a brick wall knowing this was the most important moment of his life and soccer career.

Just a month ago, Miami was sitting dead last in the MLS with the worst record in the league. On July 16th, all was changed for the club, as "the best player in the world" in most eyes, joined the club, Lionel Messi. Fresh off a World Cup win with Argentina and a stint in Paris, at PSG, Messi was ready to take his talent to the states. Miami is owned by the great David Beckham and Messi and Beckham formed a great relationship. With a lot of convincing, Messi signed with the club.

Only seven games into his time with Inter, Messi has already scored 10 goals and is leading the team in goals scored. Messi is joined alongside his former Barcelona teammates, Sergio Busquets, and Jordi Alba who have helped Miami get to the next level and become a serious contender in the MLS. Members of the club are extremely happy with the arrival of Messi as long-time friend and teammate Sergio Busquets says "The team is growing by leaps and bounds and we are very happy. We are making a solid team - and then we have Leo, who makes a difference because he's the best in the world." Messi was named player of the Leagues Cup tournament and has now earned the most trophies out of any footballer in the world, giving him 44 to this day.

Messi making the jump to Inter is a great look for soccer showing that such a decorated player such as Messi can play in the states even at an older age and win big just like in Europe. In the next coming years, more and more decorated European players will make the jump to the MLS.

Inter Miami is on the rise and with Messi on the club until December of 2025, watch as this mix of young guns and seasoned veterans continue to win many more trophies for the pink and black.
