Preseason Preview: Jacksonville Jaguars
Jacksonville Jaguars Season Preview
The AFC South. Arguably the worst division in football this year, the AFC South contains 2 rookie Quarterbacks who will most likely start week 1, a Titans team that I think will get even worse after a disappointing season, and an improving Jaguars team that should win all division games in pretty dominant fashion.
Coming off of an impressive season that saw them shock the world and win a playoff game after going down 27, the Jacksonville Jaguars young exciting team with Doug Pederson at the helm should have no trouble getting to the playoffs, and they might even be able to capitalize on a weak division and snag a first round bye. Looking at the Jaguars schedule, I think they’ll only lose 1 divisional game, and I think this team has a chance to end the season as good as 14-3. My official record prediction for the Jaguars is 12-5 with them losing to the Titans, Bengals, Chiefs, Bills, and 49ers, but don’t be surprised if they exceed those expectations.
Trevor Lawrence is coming off of an amazing year of improvement where he threw 13 more touchdowns than his rookie year with 9 less picks and increased his passer rating by just over 23. If Lawrence can maintain similar improvement, he can be one of the best quarterbacks in the league next year. On top of that, he will have a great supporting cast consisting of Travis Etienne, Calvin Ridley, Christian Kirk, Evan Engram, and Zay Jones. If Lawrence and his supporting cast are able to play up to expectations, this could be the top offense in the league next year, and the Jags could be Super Bowl contenders.
The Jags defense was a lot closer to mediocre than good last year, but with a lot of developing youngsters on the defense, like Tyson Campbell, Andre Cisco, and former 1st overall pick Travon Walker, this defense could be good enough for the offense to lead this team to a very successful season.
