Fantasy Football Risers and Fallers After Week 1

Written By: Jake Bornstein, of Swish Tribune

The NFL has kicked off and wow was it crazy! This article will consist of the top risers and top fallers from the games. Fantasy Points is in HPPR.

Risers

Calvin Ridley:

Ridley is now officially a weekly top ten receiver. There was speculation before the season that this could happen… and it did. Christian Kirk, the number two WR, was practically not at the game. Zay Jones had a decent game with five catches, but nothing concerning. Meanwhile, Ridley balled out! He had a monster first half and then overall finished the win with 101 yards, 8 catches and a TD. His dominate performance will stay and only improve as him and T-Law get more and more on the same page.

Fantasy Points: 22.1

Brandon Aiyuk:

Deebo fell off last season and it appears it will stay that way with his poor performance, but what really shows it is Aiyuks incredible performance. The “wide receiver two” dropped two touchdowns, 129 yards and 8 catches. While, he fell short to Mccaffreys 152 yards Aiyuk will be the WR1 for the powerful Purdy led 49s this season. Don’t expect this performance every week, but expect him to be a solid WR2 on your fantasy team with upside.

Fantasy Points: 30.9

Zay Flowers:

This man is a human joystick. He will do some real damage this year. Him and Lamar appear to have great chemistry and even with Mark Andrews coming back I expect Flowers to remain a top 25 receiver for the rest of the year. Flowers went off in his first game in the NFL for 9 receptions and 78 yards leading his team.

Fantasy Points: 13.2

Fallers

Drake London/Kyle Pitts:

I’ll admit, before the season I thought this year would be different. I thought this pair would finally be able to showcase their superstar talents and get some real usage. Unfortunately this appears to be a running team. I don’t expect it to be as bad as week 1, however I think that there should be some concerns with these Falcons receivers because of the low passing, high running offense this team appears to be (Bijan and Allgeier to the moon!). I wouldn’t trade these guys because you will be selling low, but maybe leave them on the bench for a bit and wait for a good week.

Fantasy Points: 0, 5.4 (respectively)

Dameon Pierce:

Sometimes talent matters, other times its situation over talent. In this situation that appears to be what might happen. I’m not so worried about Pierce overall, but I am for games where they are going to get blown out. I think in games against strong teams Pierce is no more than an RB3 due to the Texans needing to pass when down. When they verse mid or poor scoring teams he is a solid RB2 play because he will get more usage.

Fantasy Points: 5.7

Terry McLaurin

Scary Terry was the opposite of his name this past weekend. He had two catches for 31 yards in a win. I would rather have Dotson than Terry for the price and I thought this in the draft as well. While he did have a past turf toe, I am worried for Terry’s value just due to how poor the situation is. I’d say he is a low end WR2/WR3.

Fantasy Points: 4.1
